This year’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebration in Mumbai has captivated attention with the renowned Lalbaugcha Raja’s latest avatar. The deity’s statue is adorned with a magnificent 20-kilogram gold crown, valued at approximately ₹15 crore, donated by Anant Ambani and the Reliance Foundation. This lavish gift has added grandeur to the festival and underscores the long-standing connection between the Ambani family and the Lalbaugcha Raja committee.

The gold crown, the highlight of this year’s decorations, took two months to create. The first glimpse of Lalbaugcha Raja was unveiled on the evening of September 5, with the idol dressed in deep red garments. The elaborate decorations and the golden crown have become a major attraction, reflecting the tradition and opulence associated with the Lalbaugcha Raja festivities.

In recognition of their contribution, Anant Ambani has been honored with the honorary membership of the Lalbaugcha Raja Public Ganeshotsav Mandal. Additionally, he has been appointed as the executive advisor of the committee, marking his profound commitment to this esteemed institution.

Lalbaugcha Raja, often referred to as the ‘King of Lalbaug,’ is one of the most visited Ganesh pandals in Mumbai during the festival. This year’s Ganeshotsav, organized by the Lalbaugcha Raja Public Ganeshotsav Mandal, is scheduled to run from September 7 to September 17, 2024. Anant Ambani’s association with Lalbaugcha Raja spans 15 years. His involvement extends beyond personal attendance; he has consistently supported the committee in various capacities.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when the committee faced financial difficulties, Anant Ambani donated 24 dialysis machines, demonstrating his dedication to social service. This gesture highlights his ongoing commitment to supporting the Lalbaugcha Raja celebrations and the community at large.
