Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh/ TNF
A wolf attacked five people while they were sleeping outside their home in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday night, leaving them injured. This incident has added to the growing concerns about wolf attacks that have been causing panic across the state of Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the attack happened in the early hours of Friday when a family was resting outside their house near a field in the tribal-dominated area of Khalwa. The victims, a woman and four men, suffered injuries to their hands and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Following the attack, local villagers managed to capture the wolf. They used sticks to beat the animal and then tied it up with a rope. The forest department officials have yet to release an official statement, but they assured that an investigation would be conducted and appropriate actions would be taken.
The affected area, located just 20 kilometers from the district headquarters, is close to dense forests. This proximity often leads to encounters with wild animals such as stray dogs, foxes, and wolves.
Meanwhile, the situation in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich remains critical. The region has been experiencing a series of wolf attacks over the past two months, resulting in ten deaths, mostly children, and injuries to over 35 people. The situation has become so severe that the Uttar Pradesh government has declared it a ‘wildlife disaster.’
To address the crisis, the state government has deployed nine shooters to capture the wolves, while residents continue to live in fear. The rise in wolf attacks has raised significant concerns and prompted immediate measures to protect the local population.
Authorities are working to understand the cause of these aggressive wolf behaviors and are exploring ways to prevent future attacks. In the meantime, the situation remains tense, and both the affected areas in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are under heightened surveillance to ensure the safety of residents.
