The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Kolhapur turned tragic when a powerful laser light show resulted in injuries to two individuals. The festival, known for its vibrant processions and festivities, featured an elaborate laser display to welcome Lord Ganapati.
During the procession, a 21-year-old youth, Aditya Bodke from Uchgaon, was struck directly in the eye by a laser beam. The intense light caused his eye to bleed and turned red. He was immediately rushed to a hospital where doctors diagnosed him with internal injuries to his eye due to the intense laser exposure.
In a related incident, police officer Yuvraj Patil, stationed in Balivadi, also suffered from severe eye discomfort after being exposed to the same laser show. His eye became red and swollen, leading to his hospitalization for treatment.
The incidents have raised concerns about the safety measures surrounding laser light displays at public events. Authorities are now under scrutiny to determine what actions will be taken in response to these injuries and how future events will be managed to prevent similar occurrences.
