On Wednesday, political strategist Prashant Kishor announced the launch of his new political party called the Jan Suraaj Party in Patna. He aims to make a significant impact on the politics of Bihar and the entire country through this initiative.

The announcement took place during a gathering at the Veterinary College Ground, where Kishor expressed his ambitions for the party. He also introduced Manoj Bharti, a former Indian Foreign Service officer, as the party’s executive president. Bharti will hold this position until the party’s organizational elections in March next year.

Kishor was joined by many prominent figures, including former Union Minister Devendra Prasad Yadav, former diplomat turned politician Pawan Verma, and ex-MP Monazir Hasan, marking a notable launch for the new party.

Two years ago, Kishor undertook a significant 3,000-kilometer foot march starting from Champaran, a location he chose deliberately. Champaran was where Mahatma Gandhi began the first “Satyagraha” in India, making it a powerful symbol for Kishor’s campaign. During this march, he aimed to unite people around the idea of a “new political alternative,” focusing on addressing Bihar’s developmental challenges.

In his speech, Kishor emphasized the importance of quality education and job opportunities for the people of Bihar. He urged them to realize that they have not voted for these critical issues in the past. “People who doubt us may laugh and question how we will fulfill our promises, like ending migration. But we have a plan,” he asserted.

Kishor highlighted the need for more than 4 lakh crores (4 trillion) rupees to improve education in the state. He proposed that the money could be raised by lifting the current liquor ban, which he claimed results in an annual loss of 20,000 crores (200 billion) rupees. “Once Jan Suraaj comes to power, we will lift the ban on alcohol within an hour,” he promised.

With this bold declaration, Prashant Kishor aims to inspire hope and change in Bihar’s political landscape, striving to create a better future for its people. The Jan Suraaj Party represents a new beginning, and its success will depend on how effectively it connects with the voters and addresses their pressing needs.
