In Kurukshetra, Haryana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce attack on Congress during his first rally for the state’s 90 Assembly seats. Modi accused the Congress party’s “royal” (Gandhi) family of planning to abolish reservation policies, asserting, “As long as Modi is here, I will not allow even a shred of reservation to be dismantled.”

Modi warned the people of Haryana that if Congress were to win, the state could face financial troubles similar to those in Himachal Pradesh, where the government is struggling to pay salaries and even asking CM and ministers to forgo their pay.

Addressing issues concerning farmers, Modi criticized Congress for misleading the country. He challenged the party to implement their schemes in Karnataka and Telangana, where he claimed 1,200 farmers had committed suicide in a few months. He expressed disdain for Congress, accusing them of bearing the “sin” of farmers’ deaths and highlighted that the BJP government in Haryana provides Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 24 crops.

The rally, which took place on September 12, featured candidates for 23 Assembly seats across six districts in Haryana’s GT Road belt, including Karnal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, and Kaithal.

Modi also took a swipe at Congress’s handling of Dalit issues, recalling past incidents like the 2005 Gohana riots and the 2012 Mirchpur case. He accused Congress of worsening conditions for Dalits whenever they were in power and claimed the party had stifled criticism from leaders like former CM Hooda.

Modi alleged that Congress is in internal turmoil, with a single family dominating its politics, and emphasized that the BJP is committed to genuine development. He noted the BJP’s success in eliminating corruption in job appointments and pledged further job creation despite obstacles from Congress.

The Prime Minister criticized Congress for its approach to Naxalism, accusing them of threatening national unity and engaging in falsehoods. He pointed out Congress’s opposition to Article 370’s removal and claimed their policies would return India to a troubled past.

Modi defended the BJP’s record on military pensions, highlighting the implementation of the One Rank One Pension scheme, which Congress had delayed for decades. He vowed that the BJP would continue to support military personnel, with benefits starting from October.

In his speech, Modi underscored the BJP’s dedication to upholding reservation policies and protecting the rights of Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, and tribals. He urged Congress to listen carefully: “As long as Modi is here, I guarantee that reservation will remain untouched.”

The election in Haryana is set for October 5, with results to be announced on October 8. Modi’s rally marks a critical moment in the campaign, setting the stage for a heated electoral battle.
