Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the first person in the world to surpass 1 billion followers across social media platforms. Ronaldo announced this achievement through a social media post on Thursday, expressing his gratitude with the message, “Thank you for believing in me, supporting me, and being a part of my life.”
On Instagram alone, Ronaldo has amassed over 638 million followers, making him the most-followed celebrity on the platform. He also has more than 113 million followers on X (formerly Twitter), 170 million on Facebook, and over 60 million subscribers on YouTube.
Ronaldo’s presence on social media is unparalleled. He is closely followed by Argentine footballer Lionel Messi, who has 500 million Instagram followers.
Recently, Ronaldo launched his YouTube channel, which has quickly garnered over 60 million subscribers. He set a new world record for reaching 1 million subscribers on YouTube the fastest and achieved another record by gaining over 13 million subscribers within a day of launching the channel. This surpassed the previous record held by the Hamster Combat channel.
In addition to his social media success, Ronaldo made history on September 5, 2024, by scoring his 900th career goal in a match against Croatia, becoming the first player ever to reach this milestone.
