Actress Malaika Arora‘s father, Anil Arora, tragically passed away on Wednesday morning. The 62-year-old was found deceased under his apartment building, Aisha Manor, in Bandra, Mumbai. According to reports, his body was discovered at around 9 AM.
Initial investigations by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Raj Tilak Roshan suggest that Anil Arora may have died by suicide. It appears that he jumped from the sixth floor of the building. The police and forensic teams are conducting a thorough investigation, considering all possible angles. However, as of now, no suicide note has been found, which leaves some uncertainty regarding the exact circumstances of his death.
Contrarily, close associates of Malaika Arora have expressed their belief that Anil Arora’s death might have been an accident rather than a deliberate act. They conveyed their views to the news agency PTI, which suggests that there is some contention over the nature of the incident.
The body of Anil Arora has been sent to Baba Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The hospital is currently holding the body for further examination to determine the cause of death more precisely. Anil Arora had previously worked in the Merchant Navy and had retired. At the time of his passing, Malaika was in Pune. Upon receiving the news, she traveled back to Mumbai to be with her family.
Joyce, Anil’s wife and Malaika’s mother, provided a statement to the police regarding the circumstances leading up to Anil’s death. She explained that Anil had a routine of sitting on the balcony every morning to read the newspaper. On the morning of his death, Joyce noticed his slippers in the living room and went to check on him. Finding him missing from the balcony, she looked down and saw the watchman calling for help.
Joyce clarified to the police that Anil had not been suffering from any serious illness. Although he had experienced some knee pain, there were no indications of any severe medical conditions. Joyce also mentioned that despite their divorce years ago, she and Anil had been living together for some time.
In 2023, Anil had been admitted to a Mumbai hospital due to an unspecified illness. Malaika was seen visiting him there with her mother, Joyce. However, details regarding his treatment and the nature of his illness at that time were not publicly disclosed.
Anil Arora came from a Punjabi Hindu background and had been married to Joyce Polycop. The couple had two daughters, Malaika and Amrita Arora. Their marriage ended in divorce after a few years, and Joyce was granted custody of their children. Despite the separation, Anil and Joyce lived together in recent years.
