The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) recently announced the results of the September Foundation and Intermediate exams, with girls taking the top spots. Mumbai’s Parmai Umesh Parekh secured first place in the Intermediate category with an impressive 80.67% score, while Tanya Gupta from Chennai took the second spot with 76.50%. Vidh Jain from Delhi achieved the third position, scoring 73.50%.
The ICAI Intermediate exam, which is divided into Group 1 and Group 2, saw thousands of students participating. In Group 1, out of 69,227 students, 10,505 successfully passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 15.17%. In Group 2, 50,760 students appeared, with 8,117 clearing the exam, giving it a pass percentage of 15.99%. For those who attempted both groups, 23,482 students took the exam, and 1,330 passed, marking a pass percentage of 5.66%.
The ICAI also released the Foundation exam results, which showed a slightly higher pass rate. A total of 70,437 students appeared for the Foundation exam, with 13,858 declared successful, bringing the pass percentage to 19.67%. Male students performed notably well, with a pass percentage of 18.76%, while female students outpaced them slightly with a pass rate of 20.47%.
This year’s results are remarkable for the prominence of female students, who took the top three positions in the Intermediate category. Girls’ outstanding performances underscore their growing representation and success in the field of accountancy.
