Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, despite his substantial wealth, finds himself overshadowed by his wife, Asha Hooda, in terms of assets. The latest affidavit submitted to the Election Commission reveals intriguing details about their financial status.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s gold holdings amount to 1850 grams, and he possesses 25 kilograms of silver. Meanwhile, Asha Hooda’s gold reserves are significantly higher at 3300 grams, and she owns 10 kilograms of silver. This indicates that Asha Hooda’s holdings in precious metals exceed those of her husband.
In terms of movable assets, Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s total is approximately ₹3.46 crore, whereas Asha Hooda’s movable assets are valued at around ₹3.74 crore. This discrepancy highlights Asha Hooda’s superior financial position regarding liquid assets.
When it comes to immovable assets, Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s properties are valued at ₹7.29 crore. In contrast, Asha Hooda’s real estate holdings are substantially higher, totaling ₹11.99 crore. This includes agricultural land, residential plots, and commercial properties. Bhupinder Singh Hooda owns 16.305 acres of agricultural land, while Asha Hooda has 4.84 acres. He also owns two shops totaling 438 square yards, whereas Asha Hooda has a shop of 360 square yards and more extensive residential property—11386.29 square yards compared to his 7253 square yards.
Interestingly, neither Bhupinder Singh Hooda nor Asha Hooda owns any vehicles, which is unusual for individuals of their financial stature. Their cash reserves also show a notable difference, with Bhupinder Singh Hooda holding ₹4.52 lakh and Asha Hooda having ₹3.70 lakh.
Over the past five years, Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s annual income has increased from ₹37.08 lakh in 2019-20 to ₹60.05 lakh in 2023-24. Asha Hooda’s income, however, has been more variable, ranging from ₹33.69 lakh in 2019-20 to ₹37.28 lakh in 2022-23, with a slight decrease to ₹35.53 lakh in 2023-24.
In addition to their wealth, Bhupinder Singh Hooda is currently entangled in legal issues. The affidavit reveals that he faces eight legal cases, four of which are under investigation, and four are in court. These cases have been filed over various issues between 2015 and 2019.
