A kabaddi player from Haryana’s Kaithal district was allegedly beaten with sticks and attacked with a sickle after confronting former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala. The player, named Gurmukh, claims that Chautala’s supporters were responsible for the attack. The incident reportedly occurred late Wednesday night in the Guhla constituency.

Gurmukh, along with two other youths, was injured in the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment. After first aid at Guhla’s government hospital, they were referred to Kaithal for further care. The police are investigating and have reached the hospital to record the victim’s statement.

The Confrontation

The confrontation began earlier on Wednesday in the village of Harigarh Kingan, where Dushyant Chautala had come to campaign for his party’s candidate, Krishna Kumar Bazigar. Gurmukh, the kabaddi player, reportedly questioned Chautala on issues related to sports and raised concerns about the current government’s performance. A video of the heated exchange between Gurmukh and Chautala, where Gurmukh voiced his frustration, has since gone viral on social media.

Later that night, Gurmukh and two other youths, Ravinder and Harpreet, were attacked. Police are investigating claims that the attackers were locals from the same village.

Conflicting Accounts

While Gurmukh alleges that Chautala’s supporters were behind the attack, a viral audio clip offers a different version of events. In the clip, an unidentified individual claims that Gurmukh, along with his friends, arrived at a house in the village while intoxicated and began shouting abuses, including derogatory remarks about the women in the household. The situation allegedly escalated when the residents came out and confronted Gurmukh and his friends, resulting in the physical altercation.

Police officials, including Cheeka Police Station In-Charge Suresh Kumar, have confirmed the incident but have yet to verify the details. According to Kumar, “We have received information from the hospital and are heading to the site. Further action will be taken after recording the victim’s statement.”

Social Media Buzz

The video of Gurmukh’s confrontation with Dushyant Chautala has drawn significant attention online, with many debating the player’s actions and the subsequent assault. As of now, there is no confirmation linking Chautala’s supporters directly to the attack, and the police are continuing their investigation.

This incident raises questions about the growing tensions during Haryana’s election season, where confrontations between politicians and the public seem to be intensifying. Whether Gurmukh’s attack was politically motivated or a result of personal disputes remains to be seen.
