Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s commitment to peace and dialogue as the key to resolving the ongoing Ukraine conflict during his visit to Kyiv on Friday. Modi expressed India’s readiness to offer any humanitarian assistance requested by Ukraine and affirmed his personal willingness to support peace efforts.
Following discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Modi delivered a heartfelt media statement, underscoring India’s dedication to resolving the conflict through diplomacy rather than warfare. He described his visit to the Martyrologist Exposition, a memorial for children lost in the conflict, as profoundly moving.
“We firmly believe that dialogue and diplomacy are the only paths forward,” Modi stated. “India has chosen to stand for peace, influenced by our heritage of non-violence from figures like Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi. Our commitment is to support humanitarian needs and pursue peace.”
Modi reiterated India’s stance from previous meetings with President Putin, emphasizing that solutions should not be sought on the battlefield but through discussions and negotiations. He reassured that India is prepared to assist in any way possible to facilitate a peaceful resolution.
“Our approach has always been people-centric, and we remain committed to respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Modi affirmed. “I have come to Ukraine with the collective sentiment of 1.4 billion Indians, inspired by humanitarian values and a desire for peace. We must act swiftly and work together to resolve this crisis.”
In closing, Modi expressed hope that peace will soon prevail in Ukraine, reinforcing India’s supportive role in the global quest for harmony.
