India’s Olympic champion and golden boy, Neeraj Chopra, has stepped into a new chapter of his life. On January 17, he married Himani Mor in an intimate ceremony. The news broke when Neeraj shared wedding photos on social media late Sunday night. Within moments, the internet was abuzz with curiosity about Himani, prompting searches like “Who is Himani?” to trend on Google.

Who is Himani Mor?

Himani Mor is a well-known name in the sports world, particularly in tennis. Born in June 1999, she hails from Ladsauli village in Haryana’s Sonipat district. Himani comes from a family deeply rooted in sports, though her parents initially encouraged her to pursue kabaddi, wrestling, or boxing. However, inspired by her cousin, she chose tennis and has since achieved remarkable success.

Himani’s father, Chandram Mor, was a celebrated circle kabaddi player and former captain of the Indian team. Her younger brother, Himanshu Mor, is a tennis player and an officer in the Indian Air Force. Her cousin, Naveen Mor, has represented India in wrestling 19 times at international tournaments and holds the prestigious Hind Kesari title 16 times.

Himani’s passion for tennis began in fourth grade under the guidance of her mother, Meena Mor, a former PT teacher and coach at Little Angels School in Sonipat. Meena played a pivotal role in shaping Himani’s career, even moving to Sonipat city to ensure better training facilities for her daughter.

A Journey of Dedication and Dreams

Himani has made a name for herself on both national and international platforms. She learned the basics of tennis from a local coach and later honed her skills under her mother’s guidance. Her talent shone brightly when she represented Asia on the European tennis circuit, a moment she describes as the highlight of her career.

In 2018, Himani was awarded the “Best Female Athlete” title at Delhi University’s Miranda House College for the second consecutive year. She also represented India at the World University Tennis Championship in Taiwan in 2017-18, becoming the only female player from Haryana to participate. Her rankings in Indian tennis were equally impressive, reaching 34th in singles and 24th in doubles.

Currently, Himani is pursuing a degree in Sports Management at Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire, USA. Before this, she graduated in Political Science and Physical Education from Miranda House, Delhi University.
