In a shocking twist from Bihar’s Bhojpur district, a woman who was presumed dead in a dowry murder case four years ago has been found alive. The woman, Dharmshila Devi, has since remarried and has two children. Her father had filed a dowry harassment and murder case against her husband and in-laws, leading to their imprisonment. However, after serving their sentence, her father-in-law spotted Dharmshila alive at a local fair, unraveling the truth.
The Disappearance and False Death
The case began in 2015 when Dharmshila married Deepak Singh, a resident of Bahuara Chapra village. Initially, their married life seemed normal, but tensions soon arose. Dharmshila accused her husband of physical abuse, which led her to return to her parental home. Tragedy struck when her mother passed away, and according to Dharmshila, her father began behaving inappropriately towards her.
Unable to bear her father’s misconduct, Dharmshila attempted suicide by standing in front of an approaching train. However, a passerby intervened and saved her life. She confided in him about her plight, and the man offered her a fresh start. The two got married at a local temple and settled in Ara, where they now live with their two children.
The Dowry Case and Accusations
Meanwhile, Dharmshila’s father, Avadh Bihari Singh, reported her missing and filed a dowry harassment case against her husband, Deepak, and his family. As time passed without finding Dharmshila, her father identified an unknown woman’s body found near the Son River as his daughter. This led to the arrest and imprisonment of Deepak and his father on murder charges.
The Truth Unfolds
After serving their time in jail, Dharmshila’s father-in-law unexpectedly saw her alive at a local fair. Shocked by the discovery, he immediately informed the police. Following investigations, Dharmshila was taken into custody for questioning. She confirmed her identity and recounted her story, including her remarriage and new life.
This revelation has left the police perplexed. They are now investigating the identity of the woman whose body was mistakenly identified as Dharmshila’s four years ago.
Legal Proceedings
Dharmshila has now been brought to court to give her official statement. The police are working on further proceedings based on her testimony. Bhojpur police officer Krishna Kumar Singh said, “This is a rare case. The woman, who was declared dead, has now been found alive. We are investigating based on her statement and will take the necessary legal steps.”
This shocking turn of events has left the community and authorities puzzled, raising questions about how the mix-up occurred and what will happen next for Dharmshila and her former in-laws.
